White Matter & Cervical Tumor

Part of my project at the Barrow Neurological Institute was to replicate a patient's CT data and the tumors within. This was done with the purpose to later be used in mixed reality in the combination of a VR headset and 3D printed model to teach medical residents different surgical techniques while minimizing risk and stress.

Substance Painter

In Substance Painter I baked the high poly UV Map mesh to the low poly object to minimize data. This allowed me to paint on a mesh that maintained the original details of the 3D object without slowing down Substance Painter, or Unity's user experience in the future.

ZBrush

In ZBrush I booleaned the tumor from the grey matter and the grey matter from the white matter to allow a seamlessness of layers between 3D models. This will later allow the layers to be surgically cut for better user experience in Unity.

3D Slicer

To view the varying tissue densities, MRI scans were used instead of CT scans to segment the tumor, grey matter, and white matter. Creating segmentations is creating separate 3D models that can be brought into ZBrush and further manipulated.
